A Comprehensive List of All the Games Announced

The many games shown at Summer Game Fest 2025 were undoubtedly interesting but there have been concerns around the release of repetitive titles.

It has been a good week for gamers, what with the PlayStation State of Play announcements, the Switch 2 launch, and now, the highlights from Summer Game Fest 2025. The showcase of Resident Evil Requiem is perhaps the most gripping of the announcements that were made, but it was far from being the only crowd favorite. The games shown during Summer Game Fest include a long list of titles both old and new, and the sprinkling of release dates for upcoming games has sparked joy among enthusiastic gamers who were hoping for more purpose to make it through 2025.

The Dying Light: The Beast trailer came with a confirmed release date of August 22, 2025, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword also received a fresh trailer reveal, making it clear that sword-fighting games deserve the reverence they have evoked among fans thus far. GOT fans were similarly delighted to see the announcement of Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, a new strategy-based game that will allow players to immerse themselves in the politics of these dark lands. Let’s go over all the Summer Game Fest 2025 announcements in greater detail.

Everything Announced at Summer Game Fest 2025—Gamers Rejoice at the Reveals

The Summer Game Fest showcase, hosted by Geoff Keighley, took place on June 7, 2025, and it was essentially two hours of different game trailers and updates on their arrival in 2025 and beyond. The event recapped titles that we knew were on the way side-by-side with multiple introductions to new games that dropped on us from the unknown.

There were no major surprises or unexpected updates, but it did revive our interest in some titles that we forgot were coming out. If you missed the livestream you can still catch the video on YouTube, or you could stay with us as we walk you through our top 10 favorites from the Summer Game Fest announcements.

1. Resident Evil 9: Requiem

Release Date: February 27, 2026,

We knew this Capcom title, the ninth addition to the Resident Evil series, was on its way, but a good reminder is also welcome. Lifting our spirits with horror, the game is expected to bring a shift to the series in a way that has not entirely been explained. The corporate setting at the start of the trailer was a horror showcase all on its own, but we’re willing to work with the game’s FBI to see where this goes.

2. Mortal Shell 2

Release Date: 2026

A standalone soluslike sequel to the original, this action RPG brings back its penchant for blood, gore, and uncapped violence, and its dark and dirty atmosphere only gives us more reason to wishlist the game and keep ourselves prepared for what’s to come. This upcoming game from Cold Symmetry is coming out next year so we have a long wait ahead of us.

3. Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver

Release Date: To be announced

A co-op action RPG from Brass Lion Entertainment, this game will give players an opportunity to team up with three others to take down the enemy, the Deceiver, in any way they can. This game stood out as one of our favorites among the Summer Game Fest highlights, both for its Wu-Tang soundtrack and its surrealistic, anime-style graphics. As much as we are fans of dark and dreary games, it’s nice to switch to a title that really plays around with its aesthetics.

4. Code Vein 2

Release Date: 2026

Another action RPG with a luxe appearance, this single-player title from Bandai Namco Studios Inc. takes us deep into a world where humans and Revenants attempt to co-exists, but a twist of fate has the revenants turning into mindless horrors. This exploration-based game will have you draining your enemies of their blood for strength and searching for clues to save the world.

5. Game of Thrones: War for Westeros

Release Date: 2026

If you’ve watched or read Game of Thrones and thought you could command the Great Houses much better than its fleeting leaders, this is your chance to give it a shot or give it all up to raise the dead as the Night King. You pick your battles. This free-for-all strategy-based multiplayer is decidedly unique in its design, and we’re excited to see what PlaySide has in store for us with its release.

6. Lies of P: Overture

Release Date: June 7, 2025

Finally, a 2025 title. Lies of P: Overture was also showcased during the Summer Game Fest 2025 event to remind the game would be out in a few hours. While this requires you to have bought the base game Lies of P to play it, the action RPG is a prequel to the content of the original game, where you return to the city of Krat to discover what lies in the city’s dark past and the reason for its decaying grandeur.

7. Dying Light: The Beast

Release Date: August 22, 2025

Another 2025 release greets us, and so does Kyle Crane. The original action survival horror is undeniably fun but this new standalone open-world game from Techland will sink us deeper into Crane’s struggles with fighting his demon side as he makes his way across Castor Woods to take down his former captors while fending off zombies.

8. Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Release Date: 2026

Another widely violent game that is slowly making its way towards us, the Onimusha: Way of the Sword gameplay trailer from the Summer Game Fest highlights was interesting to watch. Returning us to the lands of Edo-era Kyoto, the game embarks on a fight against the Genma, creatures of the underworld that inhabit the open lands. Wielding the Oni Gauntlet, you must fight your way to the end to take down the demons that prevail.

9. Killer Inn

Release Date: To be announced

Setting aside the souls-like games for a second, we have Killer Inn, an upcoming game by Square Enix and Tactic Studios. A murder has occurred and everyone’s a suspect in the game. Much like Among Us, it’s up to you to play the role of killer or deductor as you work to protect your identity or uncover the masterminds behind the death. Collect clues to make your deductions and either find the wolves or a path to escape.

10. Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree

Release Date: September 19, 2025

A roguelike with a very colorful design, Bandai Namco’s next game is set in Shinju Village, where Towa and her team of guardians fight to restore peace in the lands and cull Magatsu’s evil influence once and for all. Mastering abilities and building synergies with the guardians is key to mastering the game as you make your way to restore peace in the colorful lands.

There Are Some Valid Criticism of the Summer Games Fest to Acknowledge

While there was considerable excitement around more announcements, popular gaming portal Kotaku referred to the event as “a boring slog.” As excited as we are about most of the titles, we can also agree with their perspective—the industry is playing it safe with repetitive genres, series successors, and games based on existing IPs that companies hope will succeed merely due to the presence of an existing fan base. Platforming indie games is a great strategy for the industry, but the shortage of major triple-A titles was also apparent.

Games like Baby Steps and Cairn, which were showcased during the State of Play event offer up something new, but we are largely seeing soulslike titles dominate the gaming space. We tend to get bored of games quickly and appreciate having more titles for genres we know we like so this isn’t entirely a bad turn of events for us, but there is a clear lack of creativity and innovation in the gaming industry that must be acknowledged. We need more games like Blue Prince and the upcoming Into the Unwell game, and fewer inspired by Elden Ring.

All said and done, the majority of the Summer Game Fest news was positive and all of it was well received by fans. A large number of the titles announced came without release dates so we expect a release in 2026 or later. This wait might feel long, but there are sufficient games coming out this year to keep us busy.
